ASSIGNMENT #1: RESEARCH QUESTIONS AND METHODS
DUE SEPTMEBER 20th @ 11:59 uploaded to Blackboard   |   10 pts (10% of total grade)

The Questions: During Week 2, you developed a list of research questions that you will now revise based on both your understanding of what makes a good research question (from course content) as well as your growing knowledge about your profile neighborhood.

Take three different questions that most interest you and revise each of them using what you learned from class. (Please make your questions are sufficiently diverse so you can consider a variety of methods). Be sure you clearly and thoughtfully apply the course content (i.e. readings, videos, lectures) as you review each question—this demonstrates your understanding of the course material. Please list the course content you drew from (minimum of 2 sources).

Organize your research question revisions in the following way:

Research Question 1  Research Question 2  Research Question 3
Draft 1:  Original RQ1 Draft 1:  Original RQ2 Draft 1:  Original RQ3
Review: Given what you’ve learned, what revisions need to me made to make this a great research question? (~100 words) Review: Given what you’ve learned, what revisions need to me made to make this a great research question? Revised RQ: Write your new/revised RQ1. Revised RQ: Write your new/revised RQ2. Revised RQ: Write your new/revised RQ3.

The Methods: During Week 3, we took a closer look at research methods and practiced matching research questions with appropriate methods. Now you will choose what method(s) are most appropriate for each research question.

Taking your refined research questions, decide what type of research (qualitative/ quantitative) and what method(s) would best answer that question. Be sure to explain why you chose each method by drawing on what you learned in class (i.e. readings, videos, lectures)—this demonstrates your understanding of the course material. Please list the course content you drew from (minimum of 2 sources).

Organize your methods in the following way:

Research Question 1  Research Question 2  Research Question 3
Revised RQ: Write your new/revised RQ1 Revised RQ: Write your new/revised RQ2. Revised RQ: Write your new/revised RQ3.
Type of research: Given what you’ve learned, why is this type of research best suited to answer this question? Method(s): Why did you choose this method(s) to answer this question (50-100 words)? Method(s): Why did you choose this method(s) to answer this question (50-100 words)? Method(s): Why did you choose this method(s) to answer this question (50-100 words)?
